I'm Mrs. Gonzalez and I am one of your teachers for the 2019-2020 school year! It's my second year at CORE Butte, and I am so excited to spend this year with you. I figured that I would provide some background on myself, since we will be together the whole year!
I was born and raised in Chico, and I love this city so much! I school hopped throughout my childhood, trying to find a school that met my education needs and goals. I attended both public and private schools within Chico, but my best experience was in the independent study program I attended in Junior High. I was able to have an education that was based off of what I needed as a student with a busy outside life, and I thrived in that environment. I love that CORE and it's PLT's are there to individualize every students' education! Outside of teaching at CORE, I assistant coached Cheerleading and Track and Field this past year.
I grew up playing basketball and piano, singing in choirs and performing in community theater musicals. I was in at least one musical from 3rd grade until my sophomore year of college, and I never got sick of it! I fully support the arts and love what Chico has to offer! This year I am teaching/directing the first choir that CORE Butte has ever had!
I attended and graduated from Chico State with my Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with a Math Education option. This program gave me training on the Common Core Standards that the State of California has adopted, and allowed me to be equipped with the tools to teach you! I also have an awesome husband, Taylor, an amazing Golden Retriever, Chance, and we are expecting our first baby in December.
Outside of teaching, I spent time with my family and travel the world! Some of our favorite travels include London, Paris, San Sebastian, and Copenhagen. I can't wait to get to know you this year! See you in class!
